Mike started his career in food service pulling ice cream cones at a soft serve ice cream shop in Wyoming, MI at 14. From there he worked in a variety of local restaurants working his way up from dishwasher to headline cook and broiler master. He finished his restaurant career when he found that closing a restaurant at 2:00AM and going to 8:00AM college classes didn’t work very well.

Mike served proudly for six years in the U.S. Army Reserve and attaining the rank of Sargent First Class all the while working in retail and wholesale sales in the auto parts industry for the largest retail and wholesale auto parts and speed shop in the state of Michigan. He always missed the creativity and sense of accomplishment that foodservice brought him and answered an ad in the newspaper for a salesperson with a food broker.

During the next 35+ years he worked for several companies such as Mascari and Associates where he was their first hire in West Michigan and had one line to sell. After 13 years in management, Mike left with the Grand Rapids office having grown to 20 people and sales well over $30 million. He was working as sales manager for Dynamic Marketing when it was purchased by Alec Stephens Food Brokers and had a huge growth during his time there. Mike worked for 12 years for Lamb’s Progressive Food Service, and was the west Michigan sales manager when the opportunity arose to start Redner Payk Marketing Inc. (RPM Foodservice).

Mike has been married for the past 43 years to the love of his life, Judy. They have two grown children. Their son Kris is currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard and is married to Cassie, a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, who along with their granddaughter, Cecelia, are stationed in San Diego. Katie, their daughter, has a career in the medical field where she works directly with patients in a large practice. She lives in Lowell, MI with her husband John Robeand is a skilled horsewoman with a passion for her horses that is unstoppable.

Mike was active in the Kentwood Baseball League as a board member in charge of signing up team sponsors as well as coaching his son and daughter for over 10 years. He was a Boy Scout leader for his son’s den. Mike enjoys his 68 Jeep CJ5 4X4 and along with Judy were editors for the Two Trackers Four Wheel Drive Club newsletter. Mike finds riding his classic 1992 Harley every chance he gets a great way to relax. Rick graduated from Michigan State University in 1982 with a B.A. in Marketing. After balancing school and varsity baseball for four years, he knew it was time to hang up the old catcher’s mask and join the working world. He transitioned his passion for baseball into building his career, but he held onto his competitive Spartan spirit. Rick started his career with Paul Inman Confectionary Sales and was quickly promoted to Retail Sales. After working for almost 3 years with Paul Inman, Rick joined Lamb’s Progressive Food Service. He has worked in sales and sales management with Lamb’s for the last 29 years.

Most recently, Rick’s career path presented him with the opportunity to start his own brokerage company. Together with Mike Redner, Rick brings his first-rate reputation, work ethic, and great attitude to work each day for Redner Payk Marketing (RPM).

Motivation for continued success is not only generated from within, but also from the family Rick has spent the last three decades raising. Rick is married to Renee, and together they have 3 beautiful, grown daughters. Stephanie, the oldest, recently graduated from Ferris State University with a PharmD degree and the twins, Courtney and Samantha, are currently attending Central Michigan University. He shares his now empty nest with his high school sweetheart and his Australian Shepherd, Tor. This fall, Rick and Renee will celebrate their 30
th wedding anniversary.

Rick is active in the local community and has served as Soccer Club President, Co-Chair on the Millionaire Party, and spent many weekends developing the Freeland High School and youth soccer fields. He is currently bringing the sport of pickleball to the Freeland Sports Zone.

With their combined experience in the Michigan market and a history of working in the trenches to get the job done, Mike and Rick felt the time was right to go out on their own and so the birth of Redner Payk Marketing Inc.
